Chhun is from Ang Snoul district. She is 47 years old and a good mother of six children. Recently, her oldest child got married and now lives separately with an independent life. Chhun is operating a pig-fattening business, from which she yields approximately $4.00 per day.

Chhun now is taking out her first loan to invest in her pig-raising business. She will use it to buy feeds and vitamin for her pigs. She is very happy and hopes to get this loan from our kind lenders to further develop her present project.

Ven, age 37, is a humble resident who has been residing in Prey Chor. She has a common-law relationship with her husband, who is operating the same business as rice cultivator, and is blessed with four children: three are single and one is already married. To help the family have a good condition, one of Ven’s daughters shares her income by working for a garment factory in Phnom Penh city.

Ven doesn’t want to keep her valued time passing without any result. She plans to use it making an effort to earn a good income and provide a comfortable living to her children. Consequently, Ven would like to acquire some funds from HKL, one of Kiva’s partners, to rent a plantation, on which she will grow potato crops in the coming season. Through using this loan, Ven will be able to further develop her standard of living.

Veronica is a student applying for a loan to pay for her tuition fees to help finish her undergraduate degree at Strathmore University. This is her story:

I am Veronica, 20 years of age, from Kenya. I have both my parents and am the first-born of eight siblings. One is in high school, five are in primary school, and the last-born is still too young to go to school. I am a second-year student at Strathmore University, pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management. It has always been my dream to take a Hospitality Management course at a Catholic University that is upscale in ethics and professionalism, and Strathmore University had all that to offer.

I would like to take out this loan so that I can cover my outstanding fee balance, without which I risk discontinuing my studies since the whole family depends on my father for school fees and other expenses. My goals are to enhance my career in the hospitality industry as well as to be an entrepreneur in Fashion and Design. I trust that by attaining this loan the certainty of my dream will be clearer.
